CADILLAC — Michigan State Police are still investigating the cause of a fire at a fireworks tent that sent fireworks shooting into the sky for more than an hour.
State Police in Cadillac said they are tracking down all leads to figure out how it happened.
Trooper David Patten said they were called to a parking lot off of Mitchell Street in Haring Township in the early morning hours of July 5th for a fireworks tent on fire.
He said when they got there, the tent was already in flames and fireworks were shooting off everywhere.
All they could do is secure the scene and wait for the fireworks to stop, which took about an hour.
No one was injured and no nearby buildings were damaged.
Patten said they are trying to get surveillance video with nearby businesses but haven’t had much luck.
“Unfortunately, at this time, we don’t have anything that points into that parking lot, so if anybody is able to reach out is video evidence or if they seen anything around the time of when the fireworks started, which would have been around 4 a.m. We would be very grateful for that information,” said Patten.
Police said if you have any information or video to contact the State Police Post in Cadillac.
The Haring Township and Cadillac Fire Departments also responded to put the fire out.
