CADILLAC — The 4th of July festivities start up Friday, with the Cadillac Freedom Festival.
Cadillac Freedom Festival Secretary, Kate King said the three-day event kicks off with a craft and vendor show Friday, with a parade going through downtown Cadillac starting at 1 pm, live entertainment, and a drone show at 10 pm.
Saturday, they have their Freedom 5k that runs along the lakeshore, more kids and family activities, more live entertainment, a classic car cruise, and ending with a fireworks display over the lake.
Then on Sunday, there’s church in the park and bingo with Jam and Bread all afternoon.
“We have thousands of people that come. We have lots of locals that come. Some are not local to Cadillac, but local to northern Michigan. And they’re avoiding other crowds in Traverse City or other areas. but we have thousands of locals and tourists that come here. We are a big tourism town, so we try really hard to support all of our downtown businesses,” said King.
Most events are taking place downtown at the Cadillac Commons.
King said that as a special treat actor Butch Patrick who played Eddie Munster in ‘The Munsters’ will be there on Saturday afternoon for a meet and greet.
