Cadillac’s Salvation Army Kicks off Christmas in July Fundraiser

LOCATION TAG — Cadillac’s Salvation Army is holding its first ever Christmas in July fundraiser all throughout the month.

Lt. Greg Bock with the Salvation Army said they are hoping to raise $100,000 to be able to buy a shower trailer to help them with their outreach.

He said it would be used for the homeless population, but it can also be for emergency responders to help in cases like the recent ice storm.

The Salvation Army plans to hold a block party fundraiser on Saturday July 26th at their location on Wright Street but they are taking donations all month long.

“There’s a four-season shower trailer that we would really like to have that’s close to $100,000. I know it’s a large goal, and some might think that the money could be used elsewhere for other things. But I would like to think that a shower is basic human dignity, and you can’t put a price on basic human dignity,” said Bock.

Bock said they’ve invited several non-profits in the area to come to the block party to let people in the community know about all the resources available to them.
