ST. IGNACE — The Mackinac County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted in favor late last week to combine two important emergency offices.
And in doing so, they approved Bryce Tracy to be the director of the Mackinac County 9-1-1 Emergency Management Office.
Before the board approved Tracy, he was the 9-1-1 coordinator and the assistant emergency manager for 20 years, with each having different responsibilities.
Prior to this, Tracy said the two departments operated, on paper and from a governance side, but budgetarily separately.
Tracy is eager to work with other agencies in his county, as well as outside, “We all work together, even though we might have something separate within our own area, we all work together. We are all in constant communication and situationally aware and back each other up in these situations. Hopefully my current knowledge and experience over the past few years in Mackinac County will continue with those partnerships and relationships with my neighbors,” said Tracy.
He went on to say that there will be another qualified person hired to work under him in the emergency management office.
