Millersburg man arrested after large drug, firearm seizure in Presque Isle County

PRESQUE ISLE — A 63-year-old Millersburg man was arrested Tuesday after authorities seized nearly a pound of illegal drugs, cash and a loaded unregistered handgun during a traffic stop and follow-up search in Presque Isle County.

According to a June 26 news release from the Michigan State Police Alpena Post, the Huron Area Narcotics Team (HUNT), with assistance from Michigan State Police Alpena Post, stopped the suspect’s vehicle June 24 on 451 Road in Hawks Township.

During the stop, investigators recovered approximately 170 grams of suspected powder cocaine, 114 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 25 grams of crack cocaine, multiple Dollar General gift cards and $536 in cash.

Following the stop, a consent search of the man’s residence led to the seizure of an additional 60 grams of powder cocaine, 42 grams of methamphetamine, 46 oxycodone pills, seven hydrocodone pills, $300 in cash, hundreds of small baggies commonly used for packaging narcotics, and a loaded unregistered handgun.

In total, authorities seized approximately 437 grams of narcotics — including cocaine, crack cocaine and methamphetamine — valued at nearly one pound, along with $836 in cash and the handgun.

The man was lodged in the Presque Isle County Jail. His name has not been released pending arraignment.

The Presque Isle County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police Alpena Post assisted in the investigation.
