TRAVERSE CITY — An open house happened in Traverse City June 26th to showcase the Grand Traverse County Zoning Atlas.
It’s in partnership with Housing North and creates a map that shows local zoning into a county level format. The goal is to make that zoning data more user friendly.
This will also allow the county to better tackle economic growth in the region and affordable housing.
“By being able to look at vacant parcels, what’s allowed. Clear up the zoning issues between local municipalities and then project planners is going to help the ability to drive those costs down,” says Grand Traverse County Administrator Nate Alger. “One thing that we are trying to do is get out of the way and make the whole process easier. And with this tool, you can literally go to the website. You yourself can drag that cursor around the county and find out what is allowable and where.”
