BATA gears up for free Park-n-Ride during National Cherry Festival

TRAVERSE CITY — The National Cherry Festival is quickly approaching and the Bay Area Transportation Authority is gearing up for it.

They’re partnering with the festival to provide simple transit downtown.

There will be a free Park-n-Ride located at the Meijer on US-31, NMC’s Cherry Lot, and Woodland Creek Furniture; all departing every 15 minutes.

BATA provided around 20,000 rides to the cherry festival back in 2024.

“Having a transportation option that takes a few more cars off the road, that provides an environmentally friendly option for people to get to and from the festivities,” says BATA Director of Communications and Development Eric Lingaur. “And sometimes during Cherry Festival, riding our baseline Cherry Festival service is sometimes the community’s only time that they ride BATA all year. So it’s a great opportunity to show our additional service that we provide some added value to the community.”
