MECOSTA COUNTY — A 52-year-old man from Leroy was killed early Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle while standing outside his disabled car on US 131, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a June 24 news release, deputies said the crash happened around 1:11 a.m. on northbound US 131, just north of 22 Mile Road. The man had exited his broken-down vehicle, which was stopped in the right lane, when he and his vehicle were hit by a northbound car driven by a 26-year-old Gladwin man.
The Leroy man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Big Rapids Fire and Rescue, Mecosta County EMS and the Mecosta County Posse. The crash remains under investigation.
