TRAVERSE CITY — For over 20 years Northwestern Michigan College has hosted a free fishing event, and it is coming back this Saturday.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., over 250 young anglers and their guardians are predicted to attend the annual Rotary Kids Free Fishing Day.
Christopher DeGood tells us hundreds of brown trout are stocked in the bay behind NMC’s Great Lakes Campus for the event, with plenty for anglers, whether or not they know how to fish.
“We’ll have volunteers help them with fishing and learning how to fish and catching the fish, ”DeGood tells us, adding “And we’ll have volunteers from the Northwest Michigan Fishing Club here to clean the fish so the kids can take home some fresh brown trout to have for lunch or dinner. ”
Parking will be available at 715 East Front Street, with the event held in the area behind NMC’s Great Lakes Campus
