LAKE LEELANAU — A fire June 10 in Lake Leelanau caused a local business to temporarily close.
The Leland Township Fire Department responded to NJ’s grocery around 6:30 p.m.
NJ’s was open for business at the time of the fire and we were told no one was hurt. The fire was under control just before 8 p.m.
Fire Chief Dan Besson says it’s important to have a plan in place when dealing with an emergency.
“Fortunately, it’s getting there quickly,” says Besson. “Putting that fire out helped save, good majority of this building. So our hope is, of course, for the next process in place to happen to allow this business to reopen, like you said, as a cornerstone of this community. So we want to make sure we can do that as quickly as we can for the owners.”
The reopening of NJ’s depends on the length of the investigation.
