Northern Michigan gears up for Less Cancer’s Hike and Bike America event

This weekend, communities across the country will come together for an inspiring cause: the Less Cancer Hike and Bike America event, aimed at raising awareness about cancer prevention and generating critical funds for life-saving initiatives.

The event, organized by the nonprofit Less Cancer, encourages participants to hike, bike, or walk in their own neighborhoods or join local group efforts to spotlight the importance of healthy lifestyles in reducing cancer risks.

Joining to discuss the event is Bill Couzens, founder of Less Cancer.

“This is more than a fitness event,” Couzens said. “It’s a movement that empowers people to take action, not just by getting active, but by supporting education, access to care, and prevention resources in communities across the country.”

In addition to the hike and bike activities, participants can look forward to a free concert and family-friendly festivities. Local health experts and volunteers will also be on hand to share information about cancer prevention, healthy eating, and early detection strategies.

Couzens emphasizes that the funds raised will go directly to programs that help reduce cancer risks — especially in underserved communities.

Whether you’re walking a trail, biking with friends, or simply showing support online, there’s still time to get involved. Registration and donation details can be found at LessCancer.org.

“This weekend is about hope, health, and action,” Couzens said. “Together, we can build a future with less cancer.”
