CADILLAC — Nonni’s Dockside Inn Italian Kitchen in Cadillac will not reopen due to kitchen staffing issues, the owners announced via a Facebook post this week.
According to a June 4 Facebook post, the restaurant faced challenges starting a week and a half ago when the kitchen manager did not show up for the scheduled soft opening, leading to delays in finding a replacement.

“We truly believed in what we were building and felt it would have been a valuable addition to the Cadillac area,” the owners stated.
Per the Facebook post, shortly after the initial setback, another cook known in the Cadillac area for previously attempting to open an Italian restaurant abruptly quit last night to move to Traverse City for a better opportunity.
The pressure of opening the restaurant without adequate kitchen staff reportedly led to the chef resigning on June 4, further complicating efforts to reopen.
Despite being fully stocked with food and having capable front-of-house staff, the restaurant’s owners said they could not overcome the shortage of reliable kitchen staff willing to work in the area.
“This decision was not due to financial reasons or a lack of capable front-of-house staff,” the post read. “The restaurant is fully stocked with food, as we were preparing to reopen. Now, we’re unsure of what to do with it. Ultimately, it came down to a shortage of reliable kitchen staff willing to work in this area.”
They expressed their appreciation for the support and apologized to all the staff affected.
“We appreciate the support and enthusiasm we received from the community and are deeply disappointed we couldn’t see this dream through,” the post read. “We sincerely apologize to all the staff affected by this decision. We are truly sorry that things turned out this way.”
The owners did not indicate in their post what the next steps would be for the location.
