WEXFORD COUNTY — In March 2025, the Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post started an investigation into an allegation of child abuse.
According to a June 4 news release from the MSP, the complainant alleged that 31-year-old Brittany Marie McPherson from Mesick was abusing a child.
The child had bruising and was being punished for having minor issues.
A report was turned over to the Wexford County Prosecutor’s Office for review. An arrest warrant was authorized, and she was arrested on May 20.
McPherson was lodged at the Wexford County Jail without incident.
McPherson was arraigned on May 21 in the 84th District Court in Wexford County on one count of Child Abuse Third Degree.
Her preliminary examination is scheduled for June 10 at 2 p.m.
