CHIPPEWA COUNTY — Students at Rudyard Public Schools are completing a year-long art project called ‘Legacy Hallway’ as the school year comes to a close.
The project, initiated by Superintendent Tom McKee, features murals representing the various communities served by the school, including Kincheloe, Trout Lake, Dafter, and Fibre.
“It gives them a sense of belonging, a sense of community,” said Michelle Benson, Rudyard Schools’ art teacher. “To have them participate in creating these images that kind of bring it together, it’s great. And I think they love it.”
Around two dozen students have contributed to the creation of these murals, which are intended to last for many years and be appreciated by future students.
The project aims to foster a sense of belonging and community among the students by involving them in the artistic representation of their local areas.
Students have two more days to finish the project before the school year ends on Thursday.
The ‘Legacy Hallway’ project is set to leave a lasting impression on Rudyard Public Schools, celebrating the diverse communities that make up its student body.
