GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — Summer is quickly approaching, which means wedding season.
Wedding venues are advising couples to book at least a year to a year and a half in advance.
BlueBridge Events Centre in Grawn says that Grand Traverse County has become a destination spot for couples getting married, with 90% of their bookings coming from couples that aren’t local.
And in years past, where June used to be the busiest season for them, now they’ve seen September as the most sought after time.
“You see more bachelor and bachelorette parties and you see new venues popping up,” says BlueBridge Events Centre Owner and General Manager Chris McCrumb. “So I do think that the wedding industry, the growth in it is kind of paralleling the general growth of the Traverse City area. And I think that that’s going to continue. It’s just such a big draw and a really great place to get married. And there’s so many good options out there for couples.”
BlueBridge Events Centre has capped their annual wedding amount with 70-80 weddings between May and October.
