TC Commission to re-consider “buffered bike lane” as part of pavement preservation project

TRAVERSE CITY — The City Commission will re-visit the issue of installing a buffered bike lane that city engineer, Anne Pagano said, would serve as a connection between the west side of Woodmere Avenue to the Boardman Lake Trail.

The proposed buffered bike lane would be installed on Carver Street from Garfield Avenue to Woodmere Avenue. It would cost the city an additional $85,518 with an $8,552 contingency.

The proposed lane was part of the the 2025 Pavement Preservation Project Project. That proposal was approved at their last meeting on May 19, but the bike lane was not included as part of the motion. City commissioners will be asked to revisit the request at their next meeting, which is Monday, June 2 at 7:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Governmental Center, 400 Boardman Avenue.
