SAULT STE. MARIE — A new wellness facility, Shedawin Haven, has opened in Sault Ste. Marie for the support of those struggling with addiction.
Located at 2318 Shunk Road, the facility was unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Sault Tribal Chairman Austin Lowes and other dignitaries.
“Tribal communities have been disproportionately impacted by substance abuse,” said Austin Lowes, Sault Tribe Chairman. “We are really taking an all-hands-on-deck approach to treating it in our tribal communities.”
The building, formerly a church, underwent significant renovations over the past year to transform it into a wellness center.
Lowes emphasized the importance of having resources available to help individuals who wish to overcome their addictions.
