ELK RAPIDS — A showcase for student films happened May 28th in Elk Rapids.
The 2nd annual North Ed Career Tech Student Film Festival took place at the Elk Rapids Cinema and showtimes started at 7pm for the free event.
It gave students a chance to show off their work in the Film & New Media program within Career Tech, with a mix of narrative pieces, documentaries and even music videos.
North Ed Career Tech says it takes hard work to put these productions together, that’s why it’s important to welcome the public to celebrate the students efforts.
“I think it’s important just to give students a chance to celebrate what they’ve done,” says Career Tech Film and New Media Instructor Zac Wendland. “It’s a lot of work to make a film. There’s a whole bunch that goes into it. And so anytime we get a chance to to celebrate what the students do and show it off, and to be honest, they they work on little screens and then they work on their computers and we show in the classroom. But there’s nothing like seeing your work on a big screen that make you feel like, ‘I made that. I did something.’ So just to celebrate, encourage students.”
“A lot of people put their time and effort and every idea they can into their work,” says Career Tech student Ava Miner. “And you can see their creation and their emotion into that work.”
