Ultra Marathoner runs 400 miles to raise awareness for youth homelessness

MICHIGAN — An ultra-marathon runner is raising awareness for a good cause.

It’s called Split the Mitten, an 8-day 4-mile run through the Great Lakes state.

Max Polakovich started running from Michiana on May 23 and ended his run in Mackinaw City on May 30th.

It’s all to bring awareness to youth homelessness and Max has partnered with AYA Youth Collective to raise money to go towards that cause.

“There’s a lot of people in our own backyards, in our own community, that need a lot of help. And I think it’s important that we bring attention to that,” says Polakovich. “Doing something crazy that a lot of people are going to hear about and grab their attention, and really helping people go out and get the word out about it. I can go out and talk about it all the time, but it really is working by doing the run. People are like, why are you running? Why are you doing this crazy thing? Think it’s important that we bring attention to that, help those who are closest to us first.”

The goal was set at $50,000
