Northern Michigan — The first big summer travel weekend is here and Michigan State Police will be out with extra patrols
Monday marks the start of the ‘click-it or ticket campaign’.
Drivers across Michigan will notice extra troopers on the roads over the coming days.
They’ll be paying extra close attention to seat belt use this year.
State Police say it’s a critical reminder about an easy safety step all drivers and passengers can take when they head out for their summer road trip.
“Just take your time, prepare for the traffic and for the construction, it is construction season so try not to get frustrated, leave early, make plenty of stops and break up your trip, but don’t be in a hurry. Make sure you’re wearing your seatbelt and keep everyone safe and that you’re following the speed limit,” said Lt. Ashley Miller with Michigan State Police.
The ‘click it or ticket’ campaign runs through June 1st.
