DNR teams up with Angler’s Atlas for Midwest Walleye Competition

Here’s one for our fishermen and women, a competition is coming to the area, a Midwest Walleye Competition.

Starting today until June 29th, The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is partnering with MyCatch by Angler’s Atlas on a statewide walleye fishing challenge

The challenge consists of fishers all of the midwest signing into the app, and then every time you go out, tracking your information. This includes how many fish you caught, how long you were there, and where you were fishing.

It does cost $25 to enter, the the DNR assures us that it is for a good cause.

Seth Herbst from the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife tells us this helps them know where thee anglers are going, and how stocked the lakes are, adding “We need to know whether anglers are actually targeting walleye in the waters that we’re stocking. And not only are they targeting walleye in those waters, but are they, in fact catching the walleye that we’re stocking in those waters. ”

Prizes will be given to those who catch the most fish, catch the biggest fish, visit the most lakes, and other categories.
