The rich history of Northern Michigan never ceases to amaze, from historic military forts to archeological digs that are still discovering what life was like here hundreds of years ago.
One place that is a bit of a right of passage for many Michiganders is the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, a maintained museum housed within the old functional building that for decades protected ships and the northern Michigan coastline.
Now visitors can experience a slice of life for those who manned the lighthouse and radio tower as well as explore the Shipwreck museum which is housed in the old fog whistle house.
For more information and to plan your trip to visit this historic piece of Northern Michigan visit the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse page on Mackinac State Historic Parks website.
