Traverse City man arrested for possession of child sexually abusive material

TRAVERSE CITY — The Michigan State Police arrested Brian Hartley Jr., 36, of Traverse City, for aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, using a computer to commit a crime, and lying to a peace officer.

According to a May 12 news release, Hartley was arrested following an investigation that began when a tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

During an examination of seized devices, child sexually abusive material was discovered on Hartley’s cell phone.

Hartley was charged with three counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, one count of using a computer to commit a crime and one count of lying to a peace officer. Hartley was arraigned in the 86th Judicial District Court on May 8.
