PELLSTON — The March ice storm left whole forests decimated in several areas of Northern Michigan and now forestry experts will host a talk on the health of forests in the storm’s aftermath.
Bryce and Susan Metcalfe, co-owners of the Grayling-based, Metcalfe Forestry Co. and Burns Timber Tax Service, will offer advice on what to “salvage or not to salvage” in conjunction with the Emmet Conservation District. They will discuss options for clean-up, whom to contact, and a chance to network with timber industry leaders. The focus will be on working forests of 20 acres or more.
The also plan to share information on federal assistance for forest restoration, casualty loss on your tax return and future savings on your property taxes.
The free event is happening Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Pellston High School auditorium, 172 Park Street.
