Several Northern Michigan communities will kick off the busy festival season with family events, including the popular Mesick Lions Mushroom Festival in its 66th year. Here are a few of the events in Northern Michigan this weekend:
May 9-11 The 66th annual Mesick Lions Mushroom Festival is a family-friendly event with activities, sporting events, a Blessing of the Jeeps, markets, food, a grand parade and more. More information here.
May 9-10 Jeep The Yoop will be held in downtown St. Ignace. While the event’s bridge crossing won’t happen this year due to bridge construction. Registration is closed but Jeep enthusiasts are welcome to the family friendly event. More information here.
May 9 It’s opening day for the Richard & Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum. The large collection of Mackinac-related art and photography highlights centuries of history in the region. More information here.
May 10 The 2024 Fort2Fort Five Mile Challenge will start with the sound of a musket at 9 a.m. Runners and walkers will start inside Fort Mackinac and then to the racecourse ahead. Proceeds support the Mackinac Historic Parks. More information here.
May 10 The Lewiston Morel Mushroom Festival celebrates its 54th year with a guided hunt, nature walk, arts and crafts show and more. More information here.
