MANISTEE — The 2025 Tight lines for troops is a few days away, but they have hit a snag in their line. They don’t have enough volunteers.
The organization had issues last year as well, with a lack of donations due to misunderstandings between donors and the organization.
Just like last year, they are in need of more volunteers for the event.
Tight Lines for Troops Board Member Craig Kent says it is normal for them to need more volunteers.
He adds are usually needed the first day of the event, May 16th, with most volunteers joining on the last day.
Tight Lines for Troops Board Member Craig Kent tells us “So we need help loading boats in the morning. We need help unloading boats in the afternoon. Besides all of the cooking and preparation and and running prizes to the veterans, and logging them all in, by far the most veterans or the most vouchers. Excuse me, the most volunteers would be used on Saturday ”
The event typically needs 400 to 450 volunteers to be successful.
The also welcome people to come to the River Walk on the Manistee River at noon to welcome veterans back after their fishing trip.
