Rain delays fixes to roof at the Wexford Civic Center

CADILLAC — It has been nothing short of a waiting game ad the Wexford Civic Centers eagerly await getting its roof fixed.

In the middle of March, the Wex discovered that the outer membrane of part of the roof over the auditorium had come loose during a wind storm.

The center canceled all events for a week until it was temporarily fixed, however, it doesn’t always hold.

Karly Castle, the event manager, tells us they still will get leaks from time to time, but it is never in the same spot twice, so it is hard to predict.

Why are they still waiting? The rain.

She tells us “”So as right now, we were supposed to have a company come a few weeks ago, just to start setting up and redoing it, but because of how much it’s been raining outside, they’ve been having all of their jobs pushed back, which means that we’re getting pushed back. So hopefully soon they’ll be able to come and fix it up. ”

Castle adds that insurance is covering everything, and estimates the cost is between $135,000 and $165,000.
