TRAVERSE CITY — Warm weather brings the start of summer and it also brings around farmers’ markets.
The next market opened up is the Sara Hardy Downtown Farmer’s Market in Traverse City.
The market has been going on for more than 40 years.
It has now grown to be one of the top three largest markets in the state.
They also serve 115 local area farmers throughout the season.
Something that makes the market unique is that vendors must sell items they have produced themselves.
“It’s not just a vegetables farmers market, it’s a craft farmers market,” NanBop Farm Director Jason Abraham said. It’s got everything, which is really nice. So as long as the exhibitors are bringing stuff they’ve produced, it’s a pretty cool setup.”
It is still early in the season for produce, so many vendors will bring crafts instead.
The market started on Saturday, May 3.
You’ll find it in Parking Lot B, at the corner of Cass Street and Grandview Parkway.
