TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Area Public School has appointed a new board member following the passing of Holly T. Bird, who served on the board for two years.
Per state requirements, Sara Bageris was appointed as a new member to the Board of Education on April 28.
Bageris has been in education for over 25 years.

Despite retiring last year, she is currently in a long-term substitute role.
Dr. John VanWagoner, Superintendent of TCAPS, said that all the candidates were great choices, but in the end, Bageris was their pick.
He said that after she takes her oath she can no longer substitute, but they are excited for her to join the board.
