NMC to host first ever ‘clothing swap’ on Earth Day

TRAVERSE CITY — Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City is hosting an Earth Day event for students and people in the community.

The college is getting ready for its first ‘Earth Day Clothing Swap.’

Over the last week, they’ve been collecting donations from several drop-off locations around town. The event is to promote shopping second-hand and also provide clothes for people who are in need. Organizers say they have plenty for people to come and ‘swap.’

“You don’t have to donate to come to the event and participate,” says Katie Sommer-Ford, NMC Academic and Career Advisor, “And as you can tell, we have quite a bit that students and community members can come and just come and, look at new clothes, grab new clothes instead of buying things at the store. We just want to keep things from the landfill.”

The clothing swap will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow at the Dennos Museum on the NMC campus.
