TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Area Public Schools has to fill a vacant board of education trustee position.
Holly T. Bird was a trustee for TCAPS Board of Education for two years.
At their March 29 meeting, she resigned from her position. Bird passed away just four days later.
The TCAPS board needs to fill the position with an interim by April 28. To be eligible, you must be a registered voter who lives within the district.
TCAPS Board Vice President Erica Moon-Mohr says they are looking for someone who is passionate about public education.
“Her passion for children and the earth and water was just shined through everything she did,” Moon-Mohr said. “Holly’s shoes are really big to fill. And so we’re looking for somebody that can fill those shoes. Obviously, somebody that puts kids first is the most important, and has some of those values that Holly had.”
People are encouraged to attend a TCAPS meeting on April 28 to add any input on a candidate that is considered.
