Big Little Hero Race happening April 19 in Traverse City

TRAVERSE CITY —A family-friendly event is happening April 19 at Northern Michigan College.

It’s the 10th annual Big Little Hero Race, and it features a 5k walk/run and a 10k, along with other fun activities. Kids are encouraged to dress up in their favorite superhero costume and every participating child will receive a free cape. It’s organized by students in NMC’s professional communications class.

“Communicating through different channels that we work with, along with communicating with outside companies, is like a really big thing that I learned from this class,” says Big Little Hero Race Logistics Specialist Jack Hlavach. ”Just in terms of professionalism, how you communicate, how you present yourself on top of that.”

“The goal is to put on a great race, 5k/10k, one mile fun run,” says the race’s Logistics Leader Collin Bramer. “Make it as fun as possible for all the kids and families involved and just, learn through the experience.”

The first event kicks off at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
