Dockside Inn to reopen with new Italian concept

CADILLAC — The Dockside Inn in the Cadillac area is set to reopen with a fresh twist, introducing Nonni’s Italian Kitchen at Dockside Inn.

Michael Blackmer, a partner with Dockside Inn, says that the location was home to an Italian restaurant for over 50 years, and he felt it was something the town needed.

“I’ve been sitting back watching, and watching a lot of Mexican restaurants coming into town, and really not an Italian restaurant.” He said, “Everybody keeps saying, you know, by looking at social media, when is there going to be an Italian restaurant? So that restaurant is just sitting there, it’s ready to go. And you can’t make anything from it, from being empty. I got to thinking, ‘Okay, maybe I should try a little Italian.‘”

According to an April 11 news release announcement, the newly updated concept will offer a traditional menu and authentic atmosphere, bringing the community a family-friendly, affordable, and relaxing dining experience.

“We’re thrilled to announce the grand reopening of the Dockside Inn, now with a fresh twist,” the release said. “We look to build an incredible team for our newly updated concept.”

The inn is currently hiring for positions in the culinary department and host and server roles. The grand reopening is planned for the first few weeks of May, and the inn is excited to welcome guests back.

“If you’re looking for an exciting opportunity to be part of something big and brand-new, we’d love to meet you,” the release said. “Stop by the Dockside this Saturday and take the first step toward joining our team! We’re incredibly excited to share this news—we’ve put a lot of thought and heart into it, and we’re bringing something truly fresh and meaningful to our community.

“Our goal is to create a family-friendly, affordable, and relaxing dining experience, all while serving high-quality Italian food and delivering exceptional service. As well as a wonderful take-out service.”

Blackmer said the location originally closed as the colder months were just too slow, and it was no longer feasible to remain open.

The owners are aiming for a grand opening ceremony in the first few weeks of May.
