ST. IGNACE — Mackinac County in the Upper Peninsula was another area hit with heavy freezing rain over the weekend.
More than half of Cloverland Electric’s customers in the county were without power Monday.
Most businesses were closed, but a few were able to open up.
In St. Ignace, ce thickness on elevated surfaces was around an inch. It’s something emergency officials say they haven’t seen in a long time and responding to such an event like this requires teamwork.
“You have to be a Jack of All Trades, master of none. We talk a lot about ‘what-if’s’ when it comes to emergencies. The biggest thing is communication, coordination and collaboration amongst all the entities involved. This was a very unique weather event,” said Bryce Tracy, Mackinac County 9-1-1 coordinator and assistant emergency manager.
He also suggests going to the Mackinac County 9-1-1 and Emergency Management Facebook page for complete updates.
