TRAVERSE CITY - The Annual Guns N Hoses hockey game is this weekend. Guns N Hoses is a nonprofit that started 12 years ago. The goal for the charity is to give support to families who are struggling. The families can nominate themselves or be nominated. The Guns N Hoses Board chooses the family that will receive the proceeds from the event This year, It’s Jake and Ashlee Townsend. Jake was diagnosed with the rare cancer, Ewings Sarcoma, and is taking time off work to travel for treatments. Ashley explains how they felt when they found out they were chosen to be the beneficiaries.
“We were driving down for his treatment. We had just left and tony called me and I screamed in the car. He freaked out. Didn’t know what was going on,” says Ashlee Townsend, beneficiary.
“Every time we pick a beneficiary, it seems like we’re bringing them into the Guns And Hoses family. It’s like lasting relationships. We get to follow up with them,” shares Tony Posey, Guns N Hoses Board President.
