GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY - On Thursday, Jan. 30 at 2:27 p.m., a trooper from the Michigan State Police Traverse City Post stopped a vehicle driven by a 38-year-old man from Traverse City on Vance Road near M-37 in Blair Township.
The driver was on parole for drug and weapons crimes, troopers said. He also had a warrant for his arrest out of Clare County, they said.
There was no insurance on the vehicle and a tow truck was called, troopers said.
During a search of the vehicle, drug paraphernalia with fentanyl residue was found, troopers said. A further search resulted in the recovery of approximately 58 grams of methamphetamine, they said. Evidence of narcotics sales and delivery was also found, troopers said.
A front-seat passenger who was identified as a 32-year-old woman from Beulah was found to be in possession of heroin/fentanyl and methamphetamine, troopers said.
The driver was arrested for the warrant, possession with intent to distribute meth, evidence tampering and parole violation. The passenger also had multiple warrants.
Both suspects were lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail pending arraignment.
The trooper was assisted another trooper and a deputy from the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office.
