Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle and apprehended the 12-year-old driver, who was alone in the vehicle, deputies said.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies said they located a 12 gauge pump-style shotgun with numerous rounds of ammunition for the shotgun, as well as a small amount of marijuana.

The 12-year-old was taken to the Clare County Sheriff’s Office, where he was held until his parents picked him up.

A report requesting charges for the use of a motor vehicle without authority but without intent to steal (joy riding), operating a motor vehicle without a license, carrying a concealed weapon and for a minor in possession of marijuana was sent to the prosecutor’s office.
