EMMET COUNTY - The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the suspicious death being investigated in Springvale Township was the result of a shooting.
At this time, the names of the individuals involved are being withheld because of the investigation, deputies said.
According to initial investigations, the deceased individual entered the home of an acquaintance located in Springvale Township. A struggle ensued at the residence, leading to the shooting incident, deputies said.
Investigators from the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office are still on the scene continuing their investigation, while the Michigan State Police Crime Lab will be concluding its onsite work shortly.
Sheriff Matt Leirstein reiterates to the community that this is an isolated incident.
“There is no immediate threat or danger to the public at this time,” he said.
