On Jan. 1, around 4:00 in the morning, Clare County Central Dispatch got a report of an assault and car theft from Scooter’s Airport Bar in Hayes Township.
Todd Newman and Michael Kramer of Harrison told deputies they were assaulted in the parking lot by Andrew Munro of Clare. Newman said when he went back into the bar, Munro stole his 2020 Chevrolet Malibu.
Thanks to OnStar, Clare City Police found the car unoccupied near Colonville Road and Grant Avenue. County deputies obtained a warrant and arrested Munro at a home on Mineral St. in Clare.
Munro was arraigned the following day on charges of Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile, Assault & Battery, two counts of Resisting/Obstructing Police, and Habitual Offender - 4th.
