Crafting with the Katies: Making a festive tree out of fabric pieces!

Merry Christmas! The Katies are back together for the holidays, and they have a great DIY for those looking for something fun and festive to do for the season!

For this project, you’ll need:

  • Styrofoam cone
  • Hot glue and glue gun
  • Festive cotton fabric (we used six designs)
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pen or pencil
  • Iron and ironing board
  • Christmas ribbon
  • Thick paper or cardboard to make a template

Step one: Take your template paper and measure out a 2 ¾ in wide by 4 ½ in long piece.

Step two: Now take your template and start tracing and cutting from your fabric. We ended up cutting about 20 pieces from each fabric.

Step three: Take your iron and ironing board, fold in the sides so they touch, and iron the fabric.

Step four: When you’ve finished ironing, take your hot glue gun and glue the two ends together to make a teardrop shape.

Step five: Once you’ve finished gluing your fabric together, start gluing your fabric to your Styrofoam cone. Start from the bottom and work your way to the top. You’ll want to layer the fabric so you can create dimension.

Step six: To finish your tree, take your ribbon, make a bow, and glue it to the top!
