The city of Cadillac is trying to help people impacted by the discovery of PFAS in their private well water.
City manager Marcus Peccia said they will be providing bottled water, courtesy of Ice Mountain, to people that live in the PFAS study area, whether you live within the city limits or not.
He said the bottled water distribution will be provided until they can get 5-gallon refillable water containers that will be distributed at a later date.
Peccia said this is an interim solution for properties within the study area that have exceeded the state’s PFAS threshold and have not yet obtained carbon filters or connected to the city’s water system yet.
“This is a service that should be for folks that are within the study zone. They know who they are. They would have been contacted by the state. Furthermore, if their test came back with any level of detection, they would also know that this would be for those folks that that also have not yet gone out and gotten subsequently their filter. All that being said, we are not turning anybody away,” said Peccia.
People can pick up the bottled water at the 44 Road facility at 7251 East 44 Road starting Tuesday December 24th. The hours will be from 1 to 6 during the week and from 1 to 3 on weekends.
