The walk is hosted by the United Methodist Church in partnership with Goodwill Street Outreach Team.

The goal of the walk is to remember the lives lost of people who died due to homelessness. It is also to spread awareness to the community about the problem in our area.

“We’ve been doing this walk for nearly 20 years in Traverse City, and some years we had 30 people who died experiencing homelessness. Each of the 7 that we’re remembering today are important, but it’s also nice to know that it’s happening less in our community,” says Ryan Hannon, United Methodist Church.

The walk is at 7 p.m. at the Governmental Center in Traverse City. Each person will be given a battery operated candle and will walk around downtown and head back to the Governmental Center for a community conversation.
