Mother of boy killed at King’s Court bus stop sues TCAPS, subdivision owners

A Traverse City mom is suing Traverse City Area Public Schools and others after her 8-year-old son was hit and killed at a bus stop back in September.

Jayson “JJ” Hoogeveen was waiting for the bus on his first day back to school when he was hit and killed by a truck.

The lawsuit alleges that TCAPS, various school officials and the owners of the subdivision knew the bus stop where j-j was unsafe and even had a new safer stop approved, but the relocation was not completed as planned.

JJ’s mom, Kimberly Gilbert, is seeking more than $200 million for her son’s death.

We plan to attend the plaintiff’s upcoming press event on Friday.
