UPDATE 12/19/24 12:50 p.m.
Superintendent Gary Wood said a staff member was alerted to a student who made a threat on Thursday morning. This is Mio AuSable’s third school threat in three days.
“The student was immediately escorted to the office, and our School Resource Officer initiated an investigation. After a thorough search, no weapons were found. However, the student has been taken into police custody and will face the appropriate legal consequences, as was the case with yesterday’s incident,” said Wood.
Law enforcement said all three incidents were separate.
“All 6th-12th grade students were gathered to hear from our county prosecutor and School Resource Officer about the serious consequences of making threats, whether verbal or electronic. We want to make it clear that any student who makes threats will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” Wood continued.
“Due to the incidents on consecutive days, we have made the decision to close school tomorrow. Additionally, all after-school activities, including the elementary concert, are canceled for both today and tomorrow.”
School will continue on Thursday with a police presence on campus.

Superintendent Gary Wood said Wednesday that Mio AuSable Schools initiated a lockdown in response to a situation involving a student who posted a picture of a gun with a message suggesting a potential school shooting.
Wood said the student is currently being interviewed by law enforcement. Both the student and their locker have been thoroughly searched, and no weapon has been found. To ensure the continued safety of everyone, a K9 unit is currently conducting a more extensive search of the building.
This comes just a day after the school was locked down due to another threat. You can read that release below.
