On Oct. 4, just after 7 p.m., troopers from the MSP Traverse City Post responded to an alarm at a home in Peninsula Township.
Troopers determined that the owners were not home at the time. They found evidence of forced entry and said the master bedroom was ransacked.
Surveillance video from a neighboring home showed a man in dark clothing walking towards the victim’s home just before the alarm and running away a short time later.
Working together, Michigan State Police and the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as 23-year-old Jordan Jesus Moises Schocko from Traverse City. They said Moises Schocko was caught on surveillance video attempting to pawn stolen jewelry at a local pawn shop.
A two-count felony warrant was authorized on Dec. 16, and Moises Schocko was arrested at his home later that same day. He was sentenced Tuesday on one count of Felony Home Invasion and one count Receiving & Concealing Stolen Property.
