The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign in Cadillac is kicking into overdrive.
Captain Liz Bock said the campaign is in its final stretch with a little more than a week left and starting Wednesday, Lt. Greg Bock, will once again stay inside the giant oversized kettle 24-7, from noon through Christmas Eve or until they reach their goal of $200,000.
It’s part of their annual Red Kettle Campaign and is their biggest fundraiser of the year.
The campaign started a month ago, with bell ringers outside of many local businesses and organizations in the area. Bock said so far, the organization has raised more than half of their goal.
“As of last week, Friday we were at $100,000, so we’re halfway there, and we only have a week left. so that’s why Greg goes to live in this giant red kettle is not only to bring awareness, but to help raise the funds of what we need to do, what we do every single day,” said Bock.
The fundraiser helps support many community programs throughout the year in Wexford, Missaukee, and Kalkaska counties.
Bock said they are still in need of bell ringers this year.
