The Detroit Lions’ impressive form so far this season has seen them lead the NFC North division, winning 12 and enjoying an 11-game winning streak. This form has seen their odds of winning the 2025 Super Bowl to 10/3, making them favorites ahead of defending champions the Kansas City Chiefs.

The top licensed and no verification betting sites also offer great odds on other NF markets, including the regular season MVP, with the Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff fifth favorite behind Josh Allen, Saquaon Barkley, Lamar Jackson, and Dak Prescott.

While Lions fans will have enjoyed a flutter in the sports betting market, the news that Carlton Davis could be enjoying his final season in Detroit has come as a bit of a shock to the sporting world.

Davis only joined the Detroit Lions in March of this year from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Jalen McMillan moving in the other direction. Though the 27-year-old cornerback is entering the twilight of his career, his performances have been a big part of the Lions’ success.

So far this year he has chipped in with 54 tackles, 1 forced fumble, and has defended 11 passes. While this isn’t the form of his career, it shows great consistency and surpasses last season’s figures after the same amount of games.

The Detroit Lions have worked as a unit to get where they are, and the fact that they are the favorite for the Super Bowl underlines just how well they have done.

Davis’ contribution can’t be understated and shows just how valuable making the right free-agent acquisitions can be for a team. Davis has led the league since week 9 for cornerbacks with an 83.1 grade and 86.4 coverage grade.

These impressive stats make it all the more surprising that he has been linked with a move to the New England Patriots. New England’s massive cap space and rebuild job makes it a real possibility with the star’s contract running out at the end of the season.

GM Brad Holmes could clash with head coach Dan Campbell over Davis’ future, with Holmes having the opportunity to slash the wage bill and give Ennis Rakestraw Jr. the opportunity to earn some game time.

It is not just Davis’ form that makes him so important for the Lions this year despite enjoying a 56.5% completion rate and an 81.0 passer rating. He has also acted as 21-year-old cornerback Terrion Arnold’s mentor, passing on his valuable experience.

If this is to be his one and only season with the Lions, Davis will be hoping to add to his 2020 Super Bowl title and go out with a bang. The Lions are certainly capable based on their current form.

A move to the New England Patriots would see Davis pair up with the talented Christian Gonzalez which is an exciting prospect, and no matter where he ends up, he will have cemented his legacy after this season.
