LUDINGTON — A young lady is making a big difference in the lives of veterans and active duty military.
It all started when Sawyer Hendrickson was 7 years old sending care packages overseas to her Marine brother and his platoon. Eight years later, the Miss Sawyer’s Kids With a Cause nonprofit has ballooned to dozens of volunteers sending 25,000 care packages to all parts of the military members around the world every year.
With the holiday season ramping up, Miss Sawyer and her many friends are stuffing 10,000 stockings and getting them ready to ship off, delivering smiles.
“It’s important to remember everyone who’s in our military, either in the country or, overseas doing something elsewhere that we may not know. and I guess you don’t really realize that until someone like my brother that you’re really close with, joined that themselves, and you kind of start to feel what it feels like to be a real military family member,” said Hendrickson.
The nonprofit is always looking for volunteers and donations. You can find more information on their website or follow them on Facebook.
