Crafting with the Katies: Stuffed 3D turkey centerpiece, perfect for Thanksgiving!

In this Crafting with the Katies segment, Katy stuffs a turkey! Well, a turkey centerpiece anyway. It’s the final touch that will wow your guests at the dinner table this Thanksgiving.

For this project, you’ll need:

  • Cranston Print Works Keepsake Crafts Thanksgiving Turkey Fabric Panel (you can find a similar one here)
  • An iron and ironing board
  • A bag of rice
  • Ball head straight pins
  • Stuffing (the kind for pillows, not for eating!)
  • Sewing machine
  • White thread
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive batting

Step one: Carefully cut the patterns of your turkey, making sure you cut as close as possible to the edge. Make sure you save the directions!

Step two: Take your first pattern piece and place it over a piece of batting right side down. Iron your pattern piece to get out any wrinkles. Cut off any extra batting.

Step three: Repeat this process for all your pieces.

Step four: Pin your pattern piece to your batting around the edge.

Step five: Start by sewing your tail on the outside curve, leaving a small opening to flip the pattern inside out.

Step six: Now move on to the body. Sandwich the sides together wrong sides in and sew around the back and head of your turkey. When you’re done, turn it right side out.

Step seven: Attach the tail to the body, following the directions provided.

Step eight: Stuff the turkey with your pillow stuffing. You can also use a bag of rice to weigh down your turkey.

Step nine: Stitch the opening closed and you’re done!
