TRAVERSE CITY- They recently moved into a new location provided by the Strathmore Group allowing them to have 2500 square feet workshop for one $1 a month for the next 10 years. Anyone is welcome to build or join in on conversation the group has worked on several projects, one including the barriers at The Traverse City Cherry Festival. they are currently working on projects for the Children’s Garden at the Botanical Gardens and music cabinets for the Traverse City Philharmonic. Community donors provide the materials and the Men’s Shed lends their helping hands to put the pieces together.
“What we offer here is a place to come, has something to do and somebody to talk to. And we work shoulder to shoulder. Guys are quiet for the most part until we get in here. And then we have some great, good natured ribbing. It really is good. And we look forward to showing up. Men are traditionally kind of isolated in their work. so, this is an opportunity for us to get together and to recognize that and to share,” Mike Hall, Member.
The Grand Traverse Men’s Shed is always looking for new opportunities with hands on projects in the community.
